Equalizing, Redundant
Randee Silv & Mumtazz

Equalizing: Fertile land listed missing with a plus or abbreviated x. Sweltering back spins count rounds of oblong sweeps day in and day out. Arguable dares agitate herds of feathery upheavals. Idle suspense. Configurations bruised. Pounding fists whisper in ears. Push. Shove. A choice not yet made.

Redundant: Surplus mirages. Brief inserts. Fruitful night rambles swap memos crushed by paved corners. Outlawed okays monitor disguises begun at birth. Perpendicular dreamings look towards. Pass from. Noteworthy hazards unsealed for later use. Conditions compress. Strolling.  Dilating.  Whereabouts exist.

The root of Mumtazz’s work is poetry. In this one finds forms of expression through drawing, collage, ceramics, sculpture, scenery, photography, film, audio pieces, props and costumes, performance, and recently in agriculture. Mumtazz uses perception as a material, as well as ephemeral, anonymous, and magic.  Her work has been exhibited in her native country of Portugal, as well as internationally.

Randee Silv is editor of Arteidolia and swifts & slows: a quarterly of crisscrossings. Silv’s wordslabs have appeared in Posit, Urban Graffiti, Maudlin House, Sensitive Skin, Bone Bouquet & Otoliths, as well as in her chapbook Farnessity (dancing girl press).
