A Short Poetic Dream

Thomas Park
March 2021

i am the seafarer

ate a cottled egg, fixed fresh

cooked stirred hot in porcelain

witness two in love, making hopes real

coming from need and despair

faith being where you and |

meet or refuse to meet

big Sleep

of young photogene

post-structure, vague of rhyme

professor wrinkled nose

my parents, just a half-day drive away

somehow no closer then than Polaris itself

their home and dorm illuminated after sunset

and returning it to its jar

as the writer Philip K. Dick suggests,

"Things Are Not Always As They Seem
love, happiness, intimacy

the drowned sailer

cannot be revived

acknowledge the reef where the waves pulled him in
walk by, head on

tougher than before, with something to share
iam the seafarer

on seas of information

were nightly features

oh, and to study, my connection

and returning it to its jar

as the writer Philip K. Dick suggests,

faith being where you and |

meet or refuse to meet

my parents, just a half-day drive away
somehow no closer then than Polaris itself
where coffee, dancing, women

were nightly features

witness two in love, making hopes real
coming from need and despair

witness two in love, making hopes real

coming from need and despair

tougher than before, with something to share
and returning it to its jar

as the writer Philip K. Dick suggests,
tougher than before, with something to share
remember our song,

the lyrics:

tougher than before, with something to share
remember our song,

faith being where you and |

meet or refuse to meet

big Sleep

witness two in love, making hopes real
coming from need and despair

tougher than before, with something to share
where child of parents, farm-hand

moved to city, merged with populace

a sweet sadness swelled

the poet, born with double hernia

awkward, big-eared, sensitive

and returning it to its jar

as the writer Philip K. Dick suggests,

"Things Are Not Always As They Seem"
